We're already a week into April! 🤯
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
I actually read TSHOEH* last year and loved it! So, when this was picked, I knew I couldn't wait to discuss it! The overall consensus from the book club meeting was that we all loved it and want a little more Evelyn in our lives! I would love for this to be turned into a movie - imagine the glamour!
Three Women
Three Women* is one that has been sat on my shelf for so long, but I put it off time and time again! I ended up listening to it as an audiobook whilst reading it so it was almost narrated to me and I loved this! The audio speed was so slow (I'm quite a fast reader) so I had to put it on 2x speed, but I still enjoyed having someone to listen to as I read! It also stopped me from getting distracted when listening to an audiobook which is what normally happens!
Three Women* is an incredible book - the work that Lisa Taddeo put into researching it is amazing! Although, it seems strange to say that I prefer one story over another because they're all quite dark in parts, but I really liked Maggie's character and it's obviously very topical at the moment (Maggie is abused by her teacher and her chapters follow the court case). I can see why this book gets all the hype it does, and it actually reads like fiction - I didn't realise it was non-fiction until it was nominated in the book club!
